This Chillum block (2398-2300 Drexel St, Hyattsville, MD 20783) has freshly planted trees all around but the trees are horridly shaped, with crisscrossed interior branches, no leads, gaping wounds, etc. They needed to be pruned years ago, before they were ever planted on the street. It's painful to see.
Do you know who planted the trees? City of Hyattsville or PG County? I would reach out to whichever agency is responsible and ask them to either prune the trees or empower you to do it yourself. Here in Mount Rainier it was clear that the city does not have capacity or expertise to prune street trees, so we formed a volunteer effort that has been pretty effective, as I described in my post.
